Fraser Edwards is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and historic business, who are looking for a reliable, hands-on Manufacturing Operative to join their team. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous manufacturing or industrial experience who enjoys practical work and wants to develop new skills within a specialist food production environment.

You'll begin by learning the warehouse and production processes before developing your skills across all areas of the operation, including goods-in, stock control, barley intake, steeping, germination and roasting. No previous malting experience is required – full training will be provided by our experienced team.

Over time, you'll become a versatile member of the production team with opportunities to take on greater responsibility, develop new skills and progress into a variety of roles as the business continues to grow.

Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse & Production

  • Pack, label and prepare finished products for dispatch.
  • Load and unload deliveries safely and efficiently.
  • Operate stock control systems to move materials between production and storage.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, once trained and authorised.
  • Complete production, stock and traceability records accurately.
  • Assist with stock counts and inventory control.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across warehouse and production areas.
  • Report damaged stock, equipment faults or safety concerns promptly.

Production Operations

  • Learn to receive, handle and store raw materials.
  • Support the steeping, germination and roasting processes while monitoring production against quality specifications.
  • Operate and monitor production equipment, ensuring process parameters are maintained.
  • Transfer products safely throughout the manufacturing process while maintaining full product traceability.
  • Carry out routine quality checks and record production data accurately.
  • Clean and maintain machinery and production equipment to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Identify and report process or equipment issues to minimise downtime.

Quality, Safety & Teamwork

  • Follow all food safety, quality assurance and traceability procedures.
  • Comply with Health & Safety policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Wear the required PPE and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across warehouse and production teams.
  • Contribute ideas to improve safety, efficiency and product quality.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in doing the job well. You'll be reliable, hardworking and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

You should be physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual handling throughout the working day, be computer literate and able to complete production and stock records accurately. A full UK driving licence and your own transport are essential due to our location.

You'll have excellent attention to detail, be committed to producing high-quality work and be willing to learn new skills across different areas of the business. Forklift experience, stock control knowledge and an understanding of Health & Safety procedures within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm or 8:00am-4:30pm, depending on operational requirements.

Occasional Saturday and Sunday working may be required during peak production periods, with paid overtime available.
