The Company

Our client is a well-established Precision Engineering business based in Bristol, with operations supporting both Bristol and Westbury. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an organised and commercially minded Procurement Coordinator to join their team.

This is a varied role combining procurement, supplier and subcontractor management, material coordination and customer account support. The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping materials, subcontract work and customer requirements moving efficiently through the business.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Purchasing

  • Purchase raw materials, bought-out items, consumables and other business requirements.
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms.
  • Challenge price increases and identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships and identify alternative suppliers where beneficial.
  • Maintain visibility of outstanding purchase orders and expected delivery dates.
  • Coordinate purchasing across Bristol and Westbury where appropriate to improve buying power and reduce unnecessary costs.

Material & Job Pack Coordination

  • Ensure purchased materials are correctly linked to the relevant job number, part number and production requirement.
  • Maintain visibility of materials awaiting allocation or their next operation.
  • Help prevent production delays caused by missing, incorrectly allocated or unidentified materials and paperwork.

Subcontract Management

  • Coordinate external processes including plating, coating, grinding, heat treatment and specialist machining.
  • Progress subcontract orders and maintain visibility of work held externally.
  • Monitor lead times, identify potential delays and escalate issues that could affect delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors to improve turnaround times and service.

Customer Account Support

  • Support selected customer accounts with day-to-day order and delivery communication.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and provide accurate, timely updates.
  • Communicate customer priorities internally and proactively highlight potential delivery issues.
  • Help maintain strong customer relationships through professional and consistent communication.

About You

  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercially aware, with confidence challenging prices and lead times.
  • Experienced in dealing with suppliers, subcontractors and customers.
  • Comfortable working in a busy manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • A team player who can work effectively with Production, Quality, Goods In and Management.

Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, subcontract management, customer service or precision engineering/manufacturing would be advantageous.
