Procurement Manager in London, Greater London

Conrad Consulting is delighted to be working with a leading global consultancy supporting the delivery of major hyperscale data centre projects across the UK, EMEA and APAC.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Procurement Manager to take a client-side lead on the procurement of construction, MEP, equipment and professional services packages.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with a strong data centre or mission-critical background to join a high-profile team and play a key role in the successful delivery of major international projects.

As Procurement Manager, you will take ownership of the procurement process for your allocated packages, from RFP through to contract award.

Working alongside delivery partners, specialist contractors and suppliers, you will be responsible for ensuring procurement strategies, tender documentation, commercial evaluations and contract awards meet the client's programme, commercial and risk requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing procurement strategies, plans and package schedules.
• Checking RFP documentation, including scope, pricing schedules, evaluation criteria and contract conditions.
• Reviewing and challenging tender documentation before issue.
• Attending supplier clarification meetings and managing bidder queries through to close-out.
• Reviewing bid levelling, normalisation and evaluation scoring.
• Assessing contract award recommendations for compliance, value and risk.
• Preparing client-side assessments and taking awards through the required approval process.
• Maintaining procurement schedules against construction requirements and key programme dates.
• Monitoring long-lead equipment, manufacturing slots, lead times and delivery risks.
• Procuring MEP packages, electrical and mechanical equipment, consultants and professional services.
• Providing weekly reporting on package status, risks and decisions required.
• Capturing lessons learned and applying these across future tenders and projects.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• 10+ years' experience within construction or engineering procurement/commercial roles.
• Proven experience personally managing tenders from RFP through to contract award.
• Experience working for a PMC, main contractor, hyperscale/colocation owner or similar organisation.
• Strong data centre or other mission-critical project experience.
• Experience procuring MEP packages, long-lead electrical/mechanical equipment and professional services.
• Good working knowledge of NEC, FIDIC or JCT and client-specific contract terms.
• Experience managing procurement across multiple countries within EMEA or APAC.
• Strong commercial analysis and bid levelling skills, with advanced Excel capability.
• The right to work in the UK.
• Leadership and stakeholder management experience.

MCIPS, MRICS or an equivalent qualification would be advantageous, as would experience using procurement platforms such as Ariba, Coupa or similar.

A second language relevant to EMEA or APAC markets would also be beneficial.
