We are recruiting for a Procurement / Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing activities across a well-established automotive manufacturing business in Coventry.
This is a key role, working closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering and Quality, with responsibility for supplier performance, cost reduction, material availability and supporting the overall competitiveness and profitability of the business.
The Role
- Leading and managing the Purchasing team and wider purchasing activities
- Developing and implementing purchasing strategies aligned with business and customer requirements
- Managing procurement of direct and indirect materials within an automotive Tier 1 environment
- Sourcing, negotiating and managing suppliers across cost, quality, delivery and service
- Driving supplier cost reduction, value engineering and continuous improvement
- Managing supplier performance, audits and development
- Working closely with Planning to ensure material availability and production continuity
- Supporting NPI and new programme launches through effective supplier management
- Owning KPIs covering cost, quality, inventory and supplier performance
- Supporting inventory optimisation and working capital improvements
- Ensuring purchasing activity meets customer requirements and industry standards, including IATF 16949
- Reporting on purchasing performance, supplier metrics and cost saving initiatives
About You
We are looking for an experienced Procurement / Purchasing professional with a strong background in automotive manufacturing and supplier management.
You will ideally have:
- Minimum 5 years' purchasing or procurement experience within automotive manufacturing
- Experience within a Tier 1 automotive environment
- Strong understanding of supply chain and customer driven manufacturing
- Experience managing direct material commodities and supplier negotiations
- Proven track record of delivering cost savings and operational improvements
- Strong commercial awareness and supplier management experience
- Knowledge of supplier development, APQP and quality standards
- Experience managing supply continuity within a manufacturing environment
- MCIPS qualified or working towards qualification, desirable
- Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
- A results driven approach with the ability to drive accountability and continuous improvement
