Salary: £40,372–£59,864 per annum (M1–UPS3, dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | Ongoing Supply

Key Stages: KS3 & KS4 | KS5 experience desirable
Requirement: QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification, Product Design teaching experience or specialism.
Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary applies to candidates with substantial teaching experience.

The Product Design Teacher Role
You will take responsibility for delivering high-quality Product Design and Design & Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4, combining practical workshop activities with strong theoretical teaching. Experience teaching at KS5 would be an advantage but is not essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured Product Design lessons.
• Developing students creativity, technical knowledge, design thinking and practical skills.
• Teaching both practical and theory-based elements of the Design & Technology curriculum.
• Differentiating lessons to ensure pupils of different abilities are appropriately supported and challenged.
• Assessing progress and providing clear, constructive feedback.
• Preparing practical resources and maintaining an organised learning environment.
• Ensuring tools, machinery and workshop equipment are used safely and responsibly.
• Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues within the department and wider school.
• Following safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety procedures at all times.
What Were Looking For
To be considered for this Product Design Teacher position, you should:
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Have experience teaching Product Design/Design & Technology within a UK secondary school.
• Have a strong understanding of the current KS3 and KS4 Design & Technology curriculum.
• Be confident delivering practical workshop sessions as well as classroom-based theory.
• Understand appropriate workshop health and safety procedures.
• Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management.
• Be able to plan engaging lessons that motivate students with different abilities and learning needs.
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Be reliable, adaptable and committed to contributing throughout a long-term placement.
• Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
KS5 Product Design experience is desirable but not essential.
