Overview
EMBS Engineering are recruiting for a Product Engineer to join an established manufacturing engineering team within a precision engineering business. This hands-on role guides products through the engineering and manufacturing phases, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustainment programmes. The successful candidate will apply Lean, 5S and FOD methodologies to improve manufacturing and testing efficiency, working closely with production, engineering, sales and purchasing, with a constant focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering solutions for new products and improvements to ongoing projects, applying sound knowledge of the full DfMA process.
- Support the deployment of new products into production, guiding designs through stage gates as part of the NPI process.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, managing change proposals in line with QMS and NPI procedures.
- Manage sustainment and NPI projects, potentially from inception through to completion.
- Oversee technical compliance, verification and validation activities, including risk reduction and supporting documentation.
- Design and produce detailed drawings for components, tooling, jigs and fixtures using 2D and 3D CAD systems.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials (BoM), test harnesses, and manufacturing routings and work instructions.
- Investigate customer returns through the Survey and Repair, SCAR and 8D processes, identifying root causes and supporting concession and RMA management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Applications Engineer or similar role within advanced manufacturing or precision engineering businesses.
- Experience gained within a machine manufacturing environment.
- Strong CAD and design knowledge, with the ability to create detailed drawings using third angle projection and a good understanding of GD&T.
- Working experience of using ERP/MRP systems.
- Degree or HND in Engineering, Electronics, Physics or a similar relevant subject.
- Sound knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, DfMA and DFMEA/PFMEA processes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal teams and customers.
- Flexible approach to work, able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
