Production Engineer - fully on site
We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join a high-precision manufacturing business serving demanding sectors such as motorsport, aerospace and advanced engineering.
You will work in Wigston with parking as part of a team working Hours 8.15am - 4.45 pm Monday - Thursday and 8am - 2pm Friday
Working closely with the Head of Engineering, you will support manufacturing operations through process development, technical problem-solving, continuous improvement and quality enhancement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes from engineering drawings.
- Create production documentation, routings and work instructions.
- Design jigs, fixtures and tooling solutions.
- Provide technical support to production and quality teams.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, waste reduction and continuous improvement activities.
- Support equipment installation, maintenance and process optimisation.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding tooling and manufacturing requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or similar, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within precision machining, CNC machining or metal-cutting manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and Continuous Improvement.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 quality systems.
- ERP system experience.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Experience within motorsport, aerospace, automotive or other high-performance engineering environments.
- Knowledge of statistical process control and process capability.
- Tooling and fixture design experience.
