Talent STEM are partnering with an established advanced engineering and manufacturing business in Northumberland seeking a Production Engineer to join their engineering team.

 

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys working closely with production teams on the shop floor, solving manufacturing problems, improving processes and supporting the development of tooling and components using CAD.

 

The successful candidate will combine strong practical manufacturing knowledge with the ability to analyse issues, develop workable engineering solutions and support improvements across production.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

- Provide hands-on engineering support to production teams on the shop floor

- Investigate production and manufacturing issues and develop practical engineering solutions

- Develop, improve and optimise manufacturing processes

- Support improvements to productivity, quality, cycle times, scrap and downtime

- Use CAD to support the design and modification of tooling, fixtures and components

- Work closely with production, tooling, quality and engineering teams

- Support the introduction of new products, tooling and manufacturing methods

- Produce and update manufacturing instructions, SOPs and technical documentation

- Support tooling and process trials

- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across production

 

 

Requirements

- Previous experience within Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Tooling or a similar hands-on engineering role

- Strong practical understanding of manufacturing and production environments

- Comfortable working directly with operators, technicians and production teams on the shop floor

- Good working knowledge of CAD software

- Experience within machining, precision engineering, automotive, tooling, pressings, forging, aerospace or a similar engineering environment would be advantageous

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

- Experience of tooling, jigs, fixtures or manufacturing process development would be advantageous

- Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience

- Up to £46,000 salary depending on experience

This role could suit an experienced Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Tooling Engineer or Process Engineer, as well as someone who has progressed from a hands-on machining, CNC or toolmaking background into an engineering position.

 

The key requirement is someone who understands manufacturing from the shop floor upwards and can combine practical engineering knowledge with CAD capability.

 

Location: Northumberland / North Newcastle

 

The site is easily commutable from Newcastle, North Tyneside, Blyth and surrounding areas.
