Production Manager

Holt Engineering

I am recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Production Manager to take responsibility for their busy production operation. This is a key position within the business and requires someone with strong production management experience, but most importantly, someone who is highly capable when it comes to production planning, scheduling and managing customer delivery commitments.

The successful Production Manager will oversee the full production function, including inspection and stores, ensuring jobs are effectively planned, prioritised and progressed to meet customer delivery dates.
This is a busy and demanding environment, so I am looking for a Production Manager who is exceptionally organised, confident working under pressure and capable of taking control of an existing production schedule that requires significant attention.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing all production activities, including inspection and stores
  • Planning and scheduling production jobs against customer delivery dates
  • Raising internal route cards through the manufacturing MRP system
  • Planning jobs using the Production Management system and Capacity Planner
  • Monitoring production progress and identifying potential delivery issues
  • Liaising directly with customers regarding order progress
  • Communicating delays, changes and production updates to customers when required
  • Working closely with the Purchasing Department to obtain supply updates for manufacturing
  • Attending online customer meetings to provide OOB updates
  • Holding and managing regular weekly production meetings
  • Prioritising workloads to ensure urgent and overdue customer requirements are addressed
  • Maintaining control of a busy and demanding production schedule
For this Production Manager position, production planning experience is particularly important. The successful candidate will be inheriting a challenging production situation where planning requires improvement and some customer jobs are already approaching or beyond critical delivery points.
I therefore need a Production Manager who can quickly assess the current workload, establish clear priorities and introduce the organisation and planning required to bring production back under control.
The successful candidate will need:
  • Previous experience managing a production function
  • Strong production planning and scheduling experience
  • Experience working with manufacturing MRP systems
  • Confidence using production management and capacity-planning systems
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to remain effective when working under pressure
  • Strong customer communication skills
  • Confidence liaising across Production, Purchasing, Inspection and Stores
  • The ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
The Production Manager position is full-time and offers:
  • Salary in the region of £40,000–£45,000
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am–5:00pm
  • Friday: 8:30am–1:00pm
  • Early Friday finish
  • A key position with responsibility for the wider production operation
If you are an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in production planning and are comfortable taking ownership of a demanding manufacturing schedule, I would be keen to speak with you.
