SALARY: £36,000 to £44,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits

LOCATION: Washington, Tyne and Wear, North East England

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 40 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday

JOB OVERVIEW

Working as the Production Manager you will take day-to-day responsibility for the aluminium department, ensuring production runs efficiently while maintaining quality standards, production targets and safe working practices.

This is a hands-on Production Manager role where you will lead and train the production team, optimise workflows, minimise waste and monitor performance while promoting continuous improvement across productivity and quality.

Working collaboratively with the installation team and other departments, the Production Manager will help ensure deadlines are achieved, operational issues are resolved effectively and production processes continue to improve.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Production Manager include:

  • Production Management and Scheduling: Supervise daily production activities within the aluminium department, ensuring an efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules, deadlines and output targets.

  • Quality and Compliance: Maintain high manufacturing and quality standards while ensuring production activities comply with relevant safety requirements and industry regulations.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, train, mentor and evaluate production staff, supporting their development and promoting strong performance, teamwork and safe working practices.

  • Workflow and Efficiency Improvement: Optimise production processes, identify opportunities to reduce waste and implement continuous improvements that enhance productivity, efficiency and product quality.

  • Equipment and Mechanical Support: Monitor equipment functionality and carry out basic mechanical troubleshooting where required to minimise disruption to production.

  • Production Area Standards: Conduct regular inspections of the production environment to maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness, organisation, safety and compliance.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the installation team and other departments to coordinate priorities, meet daily deadlines and resolve operational issues.

  • Production Reporting and Waste Management: Maintain accurate production records and monitor key measures including output levels, efficiency and waste management.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven supervisory or management experience within a production environment

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

  • Good understanding of production efficiency, safety procedures and manufacturing processes

  • Ability to lead teams while maintaining production, quality and compliance standards

DESIRABLE

  • Experience manufacturing aluminium windows and doors

  • Understanding of the fenestration sector

  • Knowledge of window and door manufacturing processes

  • Experience working on large-scale architectural projects

  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety regulations
