Salary: circa £65,000 - £70,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to join a leading high-volume manufacturing organisation based in Sunderland.
This is a key leadership position responsible for driving operational performance across a critical production area.
The Role
You will take ownership of production performance to develop a high-performing culture and drive operational excellence.
You will be responsible for managing production activities, optimising resources, delivering improvement projects, and ensuring teams are equipped to meet both current and future business demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage production operations to achieve targets across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
- Develop and mentor frontline managers, supervisors, and production teams to maximise engagement and performance.
- Monitor, analyse, and improve key operational KPIs, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Manage departmental budgets and support financial performance objectives.
- Lead and support capital expenditure (CapEx) projects from planning through to implementation.
- Ensure effective production planning and resource allocation to meet customer requirements.
- Champion a strong health, safety, and quality culture across all areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and other key stakeholders to achieve site objectives.
- Support organisational change initiatives and drive the adoption of new processes and ways of working.
About You
- Proven experience in a Production Manager or senior manufacturing leadership role within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable success in improving operational KPIs across safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing and developing large production teams.
- Experience managing operational budgets and supporting CapEx investment projects.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and operational excellence principles.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
- Results-driven with the ability to influence, motivate, and lead teams through change.
