Production Manager

Are you an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in mechanical and electrical equipment manufacturing and a passion for driving operational excellence?

We're looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead a busy manufacturing operation, ensuring products and projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards. This is a key leadership position where you'll oversee production, develop teams, champion continuous improvement, and collaborate with departments across the business including Design, Engineering, Projects, Sales, Finance, QHSE and HR.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and managing the day-to-day production operation across mechanical and electrical manufacturing activities
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and profitability
  • Managing production planning and resource allocation to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing production teams
  • Collaborating closely with Engineering, Design, Projects, Sales, Finance, QHSE and HR departments
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Overseeing production schedules, subcontractors and operational performance
  • Leading production meetings and ensuring actions are effectively completed
  • Supporting project handovers, client inspections, factory acceptance testing (FAT) and installation readiness
  • Contributing to strategic planning and operational improvements across the wider business
  • Monitoring KPIs and implementing initiatives to improve productivity, quality and customer satisfaction

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager position within a mechanical and electrical equipment manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes involving both mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within engineering or manufacturing operations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience driving continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and process optimisation initiatives
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Strong organisational, planning and resource management skills
  • Management qualification such as ILM, NVQ Level 5, or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Experience managing the manufacture of capital equipment, industrial machinery, control panels, automation systems or electromechanical products
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Experience working within a project-led manufacturing environment
