Yolk Recruitment is supporting the search for a hands-on Production Manager with a strong engineering or manufacturing background. We're looking for someone with energy, initiative and a genuine interest in improving productivity, developing teams and making a difference on the shop floor.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of production, leading teams across multiple manufacturing areas. Working closely with Team Leaders and Line Managers, you will ensure production targets are achieved while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and manufacturing processes.

The role would suit someone with experience in a high-mix, medium-volume manufacturing environment, managing varied production requirements and driving improvements across multiple areas of production.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll be expected to get involved in the detail of manufacturing, understand how processes operate and identify practical ways to improve performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of production operations.
• Lead, motivate and develop production teams, providing direction and support to Team Leaders and Line Managers.
• Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency and overall manufacturing performance.
• Carry out time and motion studies to identify inefficiencies, improve workflows and maximise output.
• Review existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve production methods and resource utilisation.
• Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, working closely with production teams to understand challenges and implement practical solutions.
• Manage production priorities to ensure customer orders and manufacturing requirements are achieved.
• Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance.
• Work closely with engineering and other departments to resolve production issues and improve manufacturing processes.
• Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions where targets are not being achieved.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in a Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager, Production Supervisor or similar production leadership role.
• An engineering or manufacturing background, with the technical understanding to assess production processes and identify improvements.
• Experience managing varied production requirements and competing priorities.
• A hands-on management style, with the ability to lead from the shop floor rather than relying solely on reports and management meetings.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and motivate teams.
• A proactive approach, with the drive to challenge existing processes and improve manufacturing performance.
• The ambition to take on greater responsibility and the confidence to make decisions and influence change.
