Our client is a highly successful West Yorkshire manufacturer with an excellent reputation for quality, customer service and operational excellence. Due to continued growth and increasing customer demand, they are looking to appoint an experienced Production Planner to play a key role in keeping operations running efficiently.

The Role

Working closely with Production, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Customer Service and Warehouse teams, you'll be responsible for creating and maintaining achievable production schedules that maximise efficiency while ensuring customer delivery commitments are met.

This is a hands-on planning role requiring excellent organisation, strong communication skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a constantly changing manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules.
  • Ensure production plans align with customer demand and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor production capacity, labour availability and machine utilisation.
  • Work closely with purchasing to ensure materials are available when required.
  • React quickly to changing customer priorities, machine breakdowns and supply chain issues.
  • Liaise with manufacturing teams to resolve scheduling challenges.
  • Track production performance against plan and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate planning data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Support inventory management by balancing stock levels with production efficiency.
  • Continuously review planning processes to improve operational performance.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, thinks ahead and remains calm when priorities change.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Production Planner, Manufacturing Planner or Production Scheduler in a UK based FMCG manufacturing business
  • Experience working within a fast-paced UK based manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning principles and scheduling.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Confidence making decisions in a fast-changing operational environment.
  • Good Excel and general IT skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Shifts

  • Early Shift:  Monday to Thursday 04:00 – 13:00 / Friday 04:00 – 11:00
  • Day Shift:  Monday to Thursday 07:00 – 16:00 / Friday 07:00 – 14:00
  • Late Shift:  Monday to Thursday 11:30 – 20:30 / Friday 08:00 – 15:00

The late shift on Friday comes in on Saturday and Sunday – hours are as planning volumes require but not a full shift. 

The rotation of shifts and weekends won’t start until fully trained and independent in the role, they will work only on the day shift until fully trained.
