Following significant investment in its manufacturing operations and facilities, the business is seeking an experienced production professional to play a key role in driving operational performance and continuous improvement.
Your new role
As Production Shift Manager, you will lead manufacturing operations on shift, ensuring the efficient use of manpower, machinery, materials, and methods to achieve the highest standards of safety, quality, productivity, and service.
Working as part of the Production Management Team, you will be responsible for delivering operational targets, monitoring performance against KPIs, developing and motivating teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading and motivating production teams to achieve operational and departmental objectives.
Monitoring production performance and analysing data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, productivity, and safety.
Ensuring production schedules and customer delivery requirements are achieved.
Managing resources effectively to maximise operational performance and minimise downtime.
Supporting the development of employee capability through training, coaching, and multi-skilling initiatives.
Maintaining excellent communication and engagement across production teams.
Working closely with engineering and technical teams to support planned maintenance activities.
Building strong cross-functional relationships to enhance overall operational performance.
Championing a positive Health & Safety culture and ensuring compliance with all company procedures.
Supporting quality and environmental management systems and associated standards.
Participating in HR-related activities including performance management, attendance management, and employee development.
Producing and maintaining management reports, performance metrics, and KPI dashboards.
What you'll need to succeed
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating production teams.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality standards.
Experience working with ERP systems and production reporting tools.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
A results-driven approach with a proven ability to deliver against operational KPIs.
Good IT skills, including the ability to develop and present performance data and operational reports.
Desirable
Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Previous involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
Exposure to lean manufacturing or operational excellence principles.
