MTrec are proudly representing our prestigious manufacturing client, based in Newcastle, who are looking to recruit a Shift Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. The Job You’ll Do.
- Effectively lead shift operations, ensuring resources are prioritised and allocated to meet operational requirements.
- Manage shift changes and handovers to maintain seamless operational continuity.
- Conduct initial Safety and Conduct investigations in line with company procedures.
- Carry out Return to Work meetings following employee absences.
- Conduct low-level conduct and absence management meetings.
- Ensure stock checks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Make labour allocation decisions and maintain accurate absence records.
- Monitor and manage daily operational KPIs to achieve performance targets.
- Lead daily operational meetings to communicate priorities, performance, and key updates.
- Coordinate the ordering of PPE and workwear to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Promote 100% shift participation in Unsafe Situation Reporting to support a proactive safety culture.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping across the operational area.
- Escalate out-of-hours operational, engineering, and SHE issues to the relevant managers as required.
- Work a rotating three-shift pattern, covering day, night, and back shifts to support 24/7 operations.
About You;
- Experience managing a team within an engineering/manufacturing environment
- Educated to GCSE level or above
- Additional Management qualifications are desirable but not required (IOSH, NVQ, NEBOSH, LEAN etc.)
- Committed to health & safety
- Act as a positive role model and set a good example
- Possesses a can-do positive attitude with a drive to succeed and motivate others
- Possesses excellent communication skills
- Remain calm under pressure
