White Label Recruitment is working with a manufacturing business in Ashington to recruit a Production Supervisor. As the business grows, it’s looking for someone to take day-to-day responsibility for one of its product ranges and lead a team of around four to eight factory operatives.
This is a hands-on role on the factory floor. You’ll set the team up at the start of the day, make sure they have what they need to deliver the production plan and step in when safety, quality or output needs attention. The business invests in its people and offers structured training, support with relevant qualifications and opportunities to progress.
What you’ll be doing
-
Plan the day’s work, allocate tasks and lead production briefings and toolbox talks.
-
Monitor output against the production schedule and coordinate labour, materials and equipment to keep work moving.
-
Make sure products are made to technical drawings and specifications, with accurate production and inspection records.
-
Enforce safe systems of work, oversee lifting activities and stop work if safety or quality standards are at risk.
-
Work with Planning, Technical, Quality, Maintenance and Logistics to resolve production issues, equipment faults and defects.
-
Train and develop operatives, manage attendance and performance, and support improvements to productivity, waste and housekeeping.
What we’re looking for
-
Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing or production, with experience leading a team on the factory floor.
-
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, alongside a good understanding of quality checks and inspection.
-
An understanding of lifting operations in a manufacturing environment and the confidence to act when work is unsafe.
-
A practical approach to solving problems, clear communication and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
IOSH Managing Safely, first aid, lifting or slinging qualifications, and training in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement would all be useful.
