Are you an experienced Programme Manager looking for the opportunity to help shape the future of a growing infrastructure business?

We're supporting a well-established specialist infrastructure contractor, part of a £100m+ group, as they continue to expand their presence across the UK. Traditionally recognised for delivering major rail infrastructure projects, the business is now investing heavily in the growth of its Energy & Utilities division and is looking for an experienced Programme Manager to play a key role in that journey.

This is a genuine opportunity to influence the direction of the business, working closely with senior leadership to deliver major programmes whilst supporting the growth of new frameworks and client relationships across the energy and infrastructure sectors.

The Role You'll be responsible for leading a portfolio of complex infrastructure programmes from early planning through to successful delivery, ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially and to the highest quality standards.

You'll also play an important role in supporting business growth, working with clients and internal teams to develop new opportunities and strengthen existing framework relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple infrastructure programmes across rail, energy and civil engineering environments.
  • Provide programme governance, strategic planning and delivery oversight across live projects.
  • Manage Project Managers and operational delivery teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Manage NEC contracts, commercial performance and programme risk.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
  • Support framework development, bids, tenders and business growth initiatives.
  • Work closely with senior leadership on operational strategy and resource planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement, programme reporting and delivery excellence.
  • Champion health, safety and quality throughout project delivery.
About You

We're open to candidates from either a Rail or Energy background, as well as those who have delivered major infrastructure programmes within other highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Utilities, Defence or Civil Engineering.
The key requirement is experience leading complex infrastructure projects and the ability to bring strategic programme management alongside strong commercial awareness.

Experience Required
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering, Construction or Project Management.
  • APMP, PRINCE2 or similar Project Management qualification.
  • SMSTS, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Strong NEC contract experience (NEC3/NEC4).
  • Experience leading multiple complex infrastructure projects or programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially aware with experience managing budgets, programme risk and contractual matters.
  • Experience working within regulated industries.
Highly Desirable Experience within one or more of the following:
  • Rail Infrastructure
  • Energy Infrastructure
  • Power Transmission & Distribution
  • Substations
  • Overhead Lines
  • Utilities
  • Water
  • Highways
  • Civil Engineering
Experience with organisations such as Network Rail, National Grid, DNOs, EDF, Sellafield, AWE, Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure frameworks would be advantageous but is not essential.
Experience supporting bids, tenders, framework growth or business development would also be highly beneficial.
