Project Controls Engineer

MK Search are working with a leading main contractor with a strong internation presence delivering across sectors in Ireland, the UK and Germany who are looking for a project controls engineer to join their team. Based from their head office in South Dublin, you will be required to travel to sites across your portfolio as required.
This role is focused on providing robust project controls across large-scale projects, ensuring accurate performance measurement, cost tracking, progress reporting and forecasting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project leadership through the effective management of project data, earned value reporting and resource performance analysis.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and monitor project controls systems and processes.

Track and report project performance against budget, schedule and resource plans.

Manage labour hour reporting, productivity measurement and workforce performance analysis.

Monitor commodity quantities and progress against project baselines.

Prepare and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and performance metrics.

Support project forecasting, trend analysis and variance reporting.

Produce regular project controls reports and dashboards for senior management.

Work closely with project managers, planners, commercial teams and site teams to ensure accurate project performance reporting.

Identify project risks, opportunities and emerging trends through data analysis.

Support project governance, reporting and performance reviews.
Essential Requirements

Proven experience in a Project Controls Engineer, Project Controls Specialist or Cost Engineer role.

Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and application.

Experience managing and analysing labour hours, productivity and resource performance.

Experience tracking quantities, commodities or installed progress on major projects.

Strong project reporting and forecasting capability.

Advanced Excel skills.

Experience working on large capital projects within construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy, pharmaceutical, industrial or EPC environments.

Excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience

Primavera P6 experience.

Exposure to cost control and project planning functions.

Experience supporting projects exceeding €50m in value.

Knowledge of Power BI or reporting tools.

Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have genuine hands-on project controls experience rather than purely planning or reporting exposure. They will understand how labour hours, progress measurement, earned value and productivity metrics combine to provide an accurate picture of project performance and will be comfortable challenging data and assumptions where necessary.
