Construction Project Engineer - Major Pharmaceutical Programme - Consultancy - FRANCE

Location: France
Sector: Pharmaceutical / Advanced Manufacturing
Project Value: Circa €350m
Requirement: French speaking essential

I'm recruiting a Construction Project Engineer on behalf of a construction consultancy client supporting a major client-side capital investment programme in France.

The project represents approximately €350m of investment and includes the construction of three new production lines and associated infrastructure upgrades within an existing operational pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

The programme is already in the execution and construction phase, with approximately 18-24 months remaining, making this a great opportunity to join at the heart of project delivery and see the scheme through construction, commissioning and handover.

The Role

As Construction Project Engineer, you will help coordinate engineering activities throughout construction, acting as an important link between engineering, construction, contractors, commissioning teams and the client.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating engineering activities during the construction phase.
  • Supporting the interface between design, engineering and site construction teams.
  • Managing and coordinating technical queries, RFIs and engineering clarifications.
  • Reviewing construction information and identifying technical issues that could affect delivery.
  • Working closely with contractors to resolve engineering and construction challenges.
  • Monitoring works against approved designs, specifications and project requirements.
  • Supporting constructability reviews and construction planning.
  • Coordinating engineering changes and ensuring appropriate technical review and approval.
  • Supporting interface management across different disciplines and work packages.
  • Assisting with construction progress, risk and technical reporting.
  • Supporting inspection, testing and quality activities.
  • Working closely with commissioning teams as systems move towards completion.
  • Supporting technical completion, documentation and handover.
  • Ensuring work is delivered safely and with minimal disruption to ongoing manufacturing operations.

About You

You will have a strong engineering background combined with practical construction delivery experience.
Ideally, you will bring:

  • A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience delivering complex construction or engineering projects.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Experience managing technical queries and engineering interfaces during construction.
  • Good understanding of construction sequencing, commissioning and handover.
  • Experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, industrial, process engineering or other technically regulated sectors would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience working within an operational or live-site environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach to resolving technical and construction issues.
  • Professional fluency in French essential.

Why Consider It?

This is a chance to work client-side on a significant European investment programme rather than simply delivering an individual construction package.

You'll be involved across engineering, construction, commissioning and handover on a complex project where technical coordination and operational continuity are essential.
