A leading UK engineering organisation delivering complex infrastructure projects across the energy and industrial sectors is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support a major installation project based in Teesside.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering business delivering a high-profile industrial project, where you'll play a key role in coordinating subcontractors, overseeing installation activities and ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation of mechanical, electrical and civil works across a large-scale industrial project.
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure works are completed in accordance with design, programme and quality requirements.
- Inspect completed installations, sign off Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and verify all certification and quality documentation.
- Ensure all works comply with CDM Regulations, SHEQ standards and project quality plans.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical and civil design teams to resolve technical queries and design clashes.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring milestones and programme dates are achieved.
- Manage temporary works undertaken by subcontractors and coordinate with the Principal Contractor's Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Attend supplier inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and pre-delivery inspections where required.
- Support the Project Manager in delivering the project safely, on time and within budget.
- Minimum of five years' experience delivering industrial mechanical, electrical or civil engineering projects.
- Strong experience overseeing industrial installations within sectors such as oil & gas, power generation, energy, water, nuclear or heavy industrial construction.
- Good understanding of Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) systems up to 11kV.
- Experience with industrial pipework installation, welding and pressure testing.
- Strong knowledge of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation and certification processes.
- Experience working under CDM Regulations and maintaining high SHEQ standards.
- ONC/HNC, NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification (or Temporary Works Supervisor as a minimum).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Outside IR35 contract.
- £400–£800 per day depending on experience.
- Initial 18-month contract with potential for extension.
- Site-based role on a major industrial project in Teesside, with occasional home working for project documentation where appropriate.
