About the role
Our client is an established engineering manufacturer delivering bespoke mechanical equipment and complete plant projects for industrial customers. Projects include materials handling systems, conveyors, feeders and processing equipment, covering both new installations and upgrades to existing facilities.
You will coordinate allocated projects across design, fabrication, procurement, assembly, installation and commissioning. Working with engineering, workshop and site teams, you will keep activities aligned with customer requirements, project programmes, budgets and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate mechanical equipment and plant projects from site surveys and design reviews through manufacture, installation, commissioning and handover.
- Review drawings, specifications and layouts with mechanical, electrical and controls teams, resolving technical queries and checking interfaces.
- Maintain project programmes, monitor budgets and resources, and track risks, changes and progress against agreed milestones.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, workshop teams and subcontractors to coordinate procurement, manufacture, delivery and site activities.
- Support factory acceptance testing and site installation, working with site management on safe working practices, quality checks and commissioning readiness.
- Prepare progress reports and project records, coordinating final drawings, test records and operating information for customer handover.
Experience and skills
- Experience delivering mechanical engineering, plant or equipment projects within manufacturing, materials handling or process industries.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, with an understanding of fabrication, mechanical assembly and equipment installation.
- Practical experience coordinating suppliers or contractors, planning work and monitoring project costs and deadlines.
- Clear customer communication, organised documentation and willingness to travel to customer sites.
Desirable experience
An engineering apprenticeship, HNC, HND or degree, or equivalent practical experience, would be welcome. AutoCAD or SolidWorks, project planning software, experience with conveyors or materials handling equipment, and awareness of site safety and CDM requirements would be advantageous.
