Salary: £35,000-£55,000 depending on experience UK-wide projects - travel and occasional overnight stays required

Major Recruitment is recruiting a Project Engineer/Manager to oversee ventilation, air conditioning and general HVAC installation projects for an engineering business.

This Project Engineer/Manager opportunity involves managing projects from receipt of order through installation, commissioning, handover and final payment, with responsibility for budgets, quality and site progress.

The role
As a Project Engineer/Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing installation work, variations, snagging, defects, commissioning and handover.
• Controlling project budgets, interim applications, variations and final accounts.
• Recording changes and obtaining formal instructions before additional work or material purchases.
• Monitoring site progress against programme and highlighting potential delays early.
• Preparing weekly client and internal reports covering progress, labour, manufacturing requirements and finances.
• Carrying out accurate site surveys and providing information and sketches for working drawings.
• Attending client meetings and coordinating subcontractors.
• Checking subcontractor insurance and competency certification.
• Delivering and recording toolbox talks and health and safety audits.
• Preparing risk assessments and method statements.
• Obtaining competitive supplier quotations, including at least three quotes for bought-out works.
• Managing purchasing and the hire and off-hire of plant, equipment and installation labour.
• Using Microsoft Project and Excel for planning.
• Maintaining high installation standards across projects.

• Good customer service skills and the ability to explain plans clearly.
• Strong IT skills and attention to detail.
• Initiative and a practical, positive approach.
• A full driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide and stay overnight when required.
• CAD experience would be an advantage.

The Project Engineer/Manager will report to the Directors, with salary and the overall package discussed at interview based on previous industry experience.
