Project Engineer

Oaklands Global are currently recruiting a Project Engineer on behalf of our aerospace client. In this role, you'll act as the key technical interface between customers and the engineering team, leading aircraft modification programmes from concept through to certification. It's an excellent opportunity to work on multidisciplinary aerospace projects in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
This is a 12-month FTC opportunity, with the requirement to be onsite, full-time.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary engineering interface between the company and the client, maintaining strong working relationships and clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated, certifiable design solutions for aircraft modifications.
- Support initial design concepts in line with aircraft manufacturer guidelines and engineering best practices.
- Provide engineering liaison support on-site, resolving issues relating to fit, form, function, and manufacturing constraints.
- Manage project schedules, resource planning, budgets, and reporting within a matrix organisation environment.
- Ensure effective integration of structural, mechanical systems, avionics, electrical, and interior engineering inputs.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, and progress reports.
- Support project managers in preparing technical reports, presentations, and status updates for internal teams and clients.
- Coordinate technical inputs from external suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure all engineering outputs support certification and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Identify and resolve technical and programme risks proactively to maintain delivery performance.
Requirements
Essential
- Aviation engineering background.
- Aircraft interior modification experience.
- Experience coordinating engineering or aircraft modification projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design and engineering documentation standards.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently within a matrix organisation.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (preferred).
Desirable
- Rotorcraft modification experience.
- Knowledge of electrical design principles.
- Experience within an EASA Part 21 Design Organisation.
- Experience with aircraft certification / STC programmes.
- Exposure to engineering liaison roles within manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality and configuration management systems.
- Project management qualification (PRINCE2 / APM / PMP).
- Experience managing external suppliers and engineering vendors.
- Advanced AutoCAD capability.
