Contract: Full-time, Permanent (45 hours per week)
Our client is a well-established and growing specialist within the water, wastewater and drainage sector. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to join their team, based from their Head Office near Taunton with regular travel to sites across the South West.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a varied, hands-on role combining surveying, project delivery, contract management and site supervision. You'll oversee projects from initial site surveys through to successful completion and client handover, delivering practical and cost-effective wastewater and surface water solutions.
The Role
Reporting into the senior management team, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out property and site surveys using appropriate surveying equipment, including laser levels and setting-out techniques.
- Producing site plans, technical reports, audits and project documentation.
- Designing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions for wastewater treatment and surface water management projects.
- Planning and managing projects, ensuring materials, plant and resources are procured efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Preparing bills of materials and resource plans.
- Managing projects through the construction phase, ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality and programme requirements.
- Supporting business development activities and contributing towards securing future projects.
The successful candidate will be a proactive and solutions-focused engineer who is comfortable working independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.
You will ideally have experience in:
- Civil engineering, wastewater engineering, drainage, construction or groundworks.
- Site surveying, setting out and the use of laser levels.
- Groundworks operations, including safe excavation to depths of 3-5 metres.
- Project and site management within a construction environment.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills with excellent numerical and written communication abilities.
- An understanding of quantity surveying principles and construction contracts.
- Experience operating construction plant.
- Knowledge of shoring techniques.
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification (or currently working towards one)
