A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to join their team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing site capital projects, leading a team of Project Engineers, and ensuring engineering solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing project delivery, and driving continuous improvement across engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Project Engineering team, providing technical leadership, coaching, and support
- Manage engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Develop project plans, allocate resources, and coordinate activities across multiple engineering disciplines
- Monitor project costs, manage scope changes, and maintain effective budget and schedule control
- Oversee engineering design activities, ensuring solutions meet safety, compliance, and operational requirements
- Manage engineering changes through formal change control processes
- Act as a key interface between engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful delivery
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards
- Manage contractor performance to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project execution
- Support post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience
- Proven experience managing engineering projects within a complex or regulated environment
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop engineering teams
- Broad knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering practices and standards
- Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and risks
- Experience with design reviews, engineering change processes, and technical governance
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and risk management principles
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships and influence across all levels of an organisation
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Desirable experience:
- Recognised project management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- Experience in safety-critical or highly regulated industries
- HAZOP knowledge or process safety experience
- NEBOSH qualification
- Contractor management experience
