Project Lead

Our client, a leading manufacturer within the pharmaceutical sector, is seeking an experienced Capital Project Manager to lead the delivery of a significant site investment programme and manage a portfolio of engineering and capital projects.

This is a high-profile role reporting into the Engineering Director, offering responsibility for site-wide capital planning, project execution and leadership of a dedicated project engineering team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting business growth, new product introductions, operational improvements and strategic site development.

As Capital Project Manager, you will be accountable for developing and delivering the site's capital investment strategy, ensuring projects are successfully executed from concept through to qualification and handover.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining the site capital investment roadmap aligned to business objectives.
• Managing a portfolio of capital projects, ensuring delivery against cost, schedule and quality targets.
• Owning site CAPEX budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
• Leading project delivery from feasibility, design and procurement through to commissioning and handover.
• Working closely with procurement, engineering, operations, quality and EHS teams to optimise project outcomes.
• Driving best practice in project controls, governance and project execution.
• Ensuring compliance with GMP, health & safety and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting new product introductions, facility expansions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Leading, mentoring and developing a project engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Managing key stakeholder relationships across site and corporate functions.

We are looking for an experienced project professional who combines strong technical project delivery expertise with the ability to lead and develop teams.

You will ideally have:

• Significant project management experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech or highly regulated manufacturing sector.
• A proven track record of delivering capital projects from concept through to completion.
• Previous people management and leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing engineering or project teams.
• Strong experience managing CAPEX budgets, schedules and project resources.
• Knowledge of GMP-regulated environments and associated compliance requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Degree qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, ideally supported by formal project management qualifications.
