About the Role
Are you an experienced Project Manager – Building Services with a strong pedigree in mechanical and electrical (M&E) infrastructure?
We are seeking a high-caliber Project Manager – Building Services to spearhead critical infrastructure CAPEX initiatives at a manufacturing facility in Stevenage
In this pivotal 12-month contract, you will take total ownership of small-to-medium infrastructure projects from initial feasibility and inception, through detailed engineering design and specifications, to on-site execution and final handover. If you thrive on leading multi-functional engineering teams and delivering major plant replacement and complex refurbishment schemes, this is the project for you.
Key Responsibilities
As the Construction Project Lead, you will be the driving force behind the delivery of multi-million-pound capital investment projects, managing the lifecycle end-to-end:
- Assemble, motivate, and manage Multi-Functional Project Teams (MFTs), including external consultants, contract managers, client CDMs, architects, and quantity surveyors (QS).
- Lead detailed building services design briefs for plant replacement, building refurbishments, and infrastructure lifecycle plans.
- Develop and manage robust CAPEX business cases from initial cost forecasting and governance approvals through to project close. Identify and mitigate project delivery risks.
- Actively audit, validate, and monitor professional service work packages on-site, ensuring uncompromising adherence to technical compliance and rigorous Health & Safety (H&S) standards.
- Develop exceptional working relationships with internal clients, external designers, and senior aerospace leadership, producing clear technical analytics, presentations, and milestone progress reports.
What We Are Looking For (Skills & Attributes)
To hit the ground running in this high-compliance environment, you must possess:
- Proven CAPEX Track Record with a deep experience acting as a Senior Project Manager or Project Lead within an active Facilities Management (FM) or technical consultancy environment, driving lifecycle asset management.
- A practical understanding of mechanical and electrical plant, systems, and equipment—specifically relating to building engineering design, operations, and technical surveys.
- Demonstrable experience taking structural or building services projects from inception, drawing/specification prep, through to site commissioning.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of an ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in a Building Engineering Services design-related discipline.
- Active professional membership with a recognized body (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE, IET) is highly desirable.
- High competence in project planning and tracking tools (MS Project, SharePoint, G-Suite) and familiarity with industry-standard engineering calculation software.
