Project Manager – Business Transformation

£49,826 rising to £52,448 (At 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance)

You’ll be supporting delivery of the Great Places Corporate Plan through the effective management of IT and business-led change projects.

What you’ll be doing

  • Working with the leadership team to plan and undertake both IT and cross-cutting business projects to contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives as outlined in the Corporate Plan
  • Developing project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Developing a detailed and deliverable project plan to track progress
  • Managing the project end to end, working within our internal methodology, ensuring it is delivered on time, within scope and in budget
  • Working within our agreed project management system, producing and maintaining high quality project management information and documentation throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Maintaining active stakeholder management, including the involvement of those who input to the project, those who are impacted by the project and those who are responsible for governance such as project steering groups, programme boards etc
  • Being responsible for the identification of project risks, issues, and dependencies, including opportunities for mitigation. Ensuring risks and issues are escalated where appropriate and be responsible for initiating corrective action where necessary to ensure successful delivery of the project
  • Identifying and co-ordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors in the execution of projects
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Producing regular reports in line with agreed schedules, and escalating issues to the Project Sponsor as needed
  • Using appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs, and managing project change in line with change request processes in place
  • Ensuring that projects are reviewed and evaluated post implementation to ensure a smooth transition to Business As Usual, projected benefits are realised and lessons learned are captured
  • Providing support to the Head of Planning and Portfolio Management to ensure that available resources within the team are utilised to optimal effect and that all projects and programmes within the business portfolio are effectively delivered in the most efficient manner
  • Providing wider co-ordination and supporting the leadership team as required, such as monitoring delivery of corporate action plans and other initiatives aligned with skillset and role purpose

What you’ll need

  • Experience of managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle (essential)
  • Project management qualification - APM / Prince2 or similar
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Use of full range of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner when working under pressure
  • Excellent influencing skills and the ability to motivate, inspire and provide assurance to others
  • Exceptional collaboration and relationship development and management skills including the confidence to effectively challenge others where appropriate
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Organisation and ability to time-manage workload
  • An ability to work in the uncertainty
  • Professional and value led with integrity, inclusivity and respect for diversity
