An established specialist contractor is recruiting a permanent Project Manager to take responsibility for an active £3m civil engineering package on the Net Zero Teesside development.
The initial programme is expected to provide approximately 6-12 months of work. Beyond this, the business has a strong pipeline of additional civil engineering projects across Teesside, Darlington, Newcastle and the wider North.
The current package involves excavating contaminated ground for new utility routes, constructing trenches, installing ducts and completing the associated earthworks and reinstatement.
Responsibilities will include:
- Taking overall responsibility for safe and successful project delivery
- Managing direct labour, subcontractors and site resources
- Programme planning and progress monitoring
- Coordinating excavations, utilities, ducting and earthworks
- Client and principal contractor liaison
- Managing health and safety, quality and site documentation
- Monitoring costs, variations and project performance
- Planning labour, plant and materials
- Ensuring works are delivered to specification and programme
- Supporting mobilisation and delivery across future Northern projects
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous Project Manager experience within civil engineering
- Experience delivering groundworks, utilities, drainage or earthworks packages
- The ability to take control of an active site and manage delivery independently
- Strong client facing and subcontractor-management skills
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid
- A practical understanding of programme, commercial and quality requirements
- The flexibility to support projects across the North as the regional workload develops
Experience of contaminated land, asbestos remediation or specialist enabling works would be advantageous but is not essential.
This is a permanent position offering an immediate flagship project followed by a long term regional pipeline. The working hours on the Teesside site are approximately 07:00-16:30.
