Project Manager – Engineering & Site Installation

Location: Rugby
Salary: £22.00–£25.00 per hour (£45,760–£52,000 per annum), depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, normally 8:00am–4:00pm, minimum 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

The Opportunity

An established engineering business in Rugby is looking for an experienced, practical Project Manager to oversee multiple engineering and site-based projects from initial planning through to completion.

This is a varied role combining project coordination, site organisation, technical understanding and commercial responsibility. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing budgets and quotations while also taking a hands-on approach when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate and manage engineering and site-installation projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within the agreed budget.
  • Prepare RAMS, method statements and other project documentation.
  • Organise site labour, equipment and transport requirements.
  • Arrange appropriately trained personnel, including forklift drivers.
  • Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate customers, site teams, contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage several live projects and changing priorities simultaneously.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and timescales.
  • Prepare and support accurate quotations.
  • Identify and resolve operational or technical issues.
  • Attend customer and project sites as required.
  • Provide practical, hands-on support during installations when necessary.
  • Maintain clear project records and communicate progress to the management team.
  • Ensure work is completed to the required safety, quality and customer standards.
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience managing engineering, manufacturing, installation or site-based projects.
  • Experience preparing RAMS and method statements.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Strong site-planning and organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness, including experience working with budgets and quotations.
  • Practical engineering or hands-on site experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Confident communication with customers, contractors and site teams.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekends when projects require it.
Desirable Requirements
  • A relevant site-safety or competency card.
  • Forklift Truck licence.
  • Previous experience coordinating labour, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Experience within engineering installation, fabrication or a related environment.

The company can provide in-house forklift training where required.

Package and Benefits
  • £22.00–£25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Overtime paid at time and a half.
