We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a leading Tier 1 principal contractor delivering a major flagship Grade I listed development.

This role will involve leading the successful delivery of complex heritage, cut-and-carve, scaffolding and temporary works packages within a highly sensitive existing structure. The project presents significant technical and logistical challenges, requiring exceptional planning, coordination, construction methodology and quality standards.

As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, timely, and successful delivery of your assigned packages from pre-construction through to completion. Working closely with clients, consultants, specialist subcontractors, temporary works designers, and internal delivery teams, you will ensure programme, quality, safety, and project objectives are achieved.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of complex heritage, enabling and temporary works packages.
  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of scaffolding and temporary works packages.
  • Oversee specialist subcontractors and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and manage project programmes, procurement schedules and construction sequencing.
  • Coordinate temporary works designs and methodologies with the permanent works and wider construction programme.
  • Work closely with structural engineers, Temporary Works Coordinators, designers and specialist consultants.
  • Oversee complex cut-and-carve works within an existing Grade I listed structure.
  • Manage interfaces between existing structures, temporary works and new permanent works.
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure appropriate protection of existing historic fabric throughout the construction process.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, specialist contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, project requirements, heritage constraints and company procedures.
  • Manage project reporting, programme updates, change control and project documentation.
  • Support the successful completion, commissioning, handover and close-out of project packages.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager working for a Tier 1 principal contractor.
  • Strong experience working on heritage, refurbishment or listed-building projects.
  • Proven experience delivering cut-and-carve projects within existing structures.
  • Previous experience working on Grade I, Grade II or other highly protected listed buildings* is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience managing scaffolding and temporary works packages.
  • Good understanding of temporary works design, coordination, sequencing and installation.
