Force Contracting Services are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Kilmarnock.
The project is due to commence in mid-September 2026 and is expected to run for approximately 2 years, with the overall works valued at circa £15m.
The successful candidate will have a strong civil engineering background, relevant experience working on BESS sites, and be able to manage a project of this scale.
Scope of Works:
- Enabling works
- Site preparation
- Earthworks
- Drainage
- Access roads
- Hardstanding
- Equipment foundations
- Fencing foundations
- Ducting and trenching
- Reinstatement
- All associated civil works required to provide a complete and operational BESS site
Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for project delivery from mobilisation through to completion.
- Lead and manage the project delivery team.
- Manage Site Managers, Site Engineers, General Foremen and subcontractors.
- Develop and manage the construction programme.
- Monitor progress, costs, quality and performance.
- Manage client, consultant and stakeholder relationships.
- Coordinate the supply chain and subcontractors.
- Manage project risks and resolve issues.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification.
- Oversee completion, snagging and handover.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering.
- Relevant experience working on BESS sites.
- Experience managing major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction delivery and project management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong programme and commercial awareness.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS.
- Relevant construction or engineering qualification.
