Project Manager - High Voltage Systems

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager (High Voltage Systems) to serve as the technical lead for the HV scope on a major infrastructure project.
In this role, you will lead and manage the High Voltage (HV) Cable and HV Plant subcontractors, ensuring all works are delivered safely, commercially on track, and in strict compliance with project specifications. You will bridge the gap between design and construction, managing both HV and MEP designer and subcontractor deliverables to align seamlessly with the project programme.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary technical lead for all HV works on the project.
- Manage HV/MEP designer and subcontractor design activities, ensuring outputs are tracked, reviewed, and reported to the Project Director.
- Coordinate internal design interface meetings with the construction department and manage external client/supplier design workshops.
- Oversee BIM requirements and Digital Engineering practices for permanent and temporary works alongside the CAD team.
- Lead the day-to-day management of HV/LV subcontractors and suppliers on-site.
- Produce, maintain, and manage the resourced construction section of the contract programme.
- Establish production targets, monitor resource levels, and implement action plans to optimize site efficiency.
- Manage the compilation of project handover documentation and ensure data compliance.
- Collaborate with the commercial team to develop detailed subcontractor packages, review monthly accounts, and manage cost/value forecasts.
- Actively promote highest-level standards for Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability, and Quality (HSQE) compliance.
- Implement CDM requirements and maintain active participation in project risk management.
Experience qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience managing high voltage projects working directly for a Contractor.
- National Grid (NG) Project Experience: Proven track record working on NG circuits, preferably at the 400kV, 275kV, or 132kV level.
- Substantial combined background in both design management and site construction, ideally within Design & Build (D&B) frameworks.
- Deep understanding of National Grid Transmission Procedures, Technical Specifications, and Principal Designer/Contractor duties.
- Expertise in implementing and promoting Digital Engineering practices across both design and construction phases.
- National Grid Competent Person status.
- SMSTS trained.
- Valid UK Driver’s License.
