The Opportunity

JL Renewable Solutions is working with an established and growing electrical infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced HV Project Manager for its South Wales operations.

The business delivers high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects across the UK, including HV substations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), grid connections, underground cabling and associated mechanical and electrical works.

With a strong pipeline of secured projects and further opportunities in development, this is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased Project Manager to take ownership of technically challenging projects and play an important role in their successful delivery.

You'll be responsible for managing projects from initial planning and mobilisation through construction, commissioning and completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of HV electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, BESS, grid connections and underground cabling.

  • Take responsibility for project programmes, budgets, resources, commercial performance and overall delivery.

  • Coordinate electrical engineers, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.

  • Develop and manage project programmes using Primavera P6 or similar planning software.

  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays and implement recovery plans where required.

  • Oversee the delivery of electrical and M&E works, including HV switchgear, transformers, substations and associated infrastructure.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, DNOs, ICPs and other project stakeholders.

  • Manage project risks, variations, commercial reporting and contractual requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports and programme updates.

  • Work closely with internal commercial, engineering and operational teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Background working with an ICP, DNO, electrical contractor, EPC contractor or utilities business.

  • Strong commercial awareness, including project budgets, cost control, programme management and risk.

  • Experience using Primavera P6 or similar project planning software.

  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
