Project Manager (Mechanical Bias)

Location: Ipswich based office / sites across London & South East

Salary: £50,000 DOE + Company Car Allowance

Hours: Monday-Friday 

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A well-established national building services contractor is looking to strengthen its Projects team with an experienced Project Manager with a Mechanical bias. The role will involve overseeing projects across London and the Southeast, with responsibility for site teams, HSE, quality, client relationships and project delivery.

The business has grown into a national contractor over the last 10 years with a high volume of engineers on the road daily, offering services across the mechanical and electrical sector. What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage commercial mechanical and M&E projects valued between £100K–£2M
  • Oversee engineers, site teams and subcontractors across multiple projects
  • Manage projects from planning through to completion and commissioning, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to quality standards
  • Manage project planning, cost control, variations, contract requirements and resources
  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders
  • Review HSE, quality requirements, specifications and project schedules
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, purchasing and project resources
  • Identify and mitigate risks, manage issues and ensure compliance throughout the project
  • Participate in tender processes and provide project reviews and reports to senior management
  • Travel weekly to sites across London and the Southeast

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years' proven project experience, ideally on projects valued £100K–£2M
  • Minimum 8 years' mechanical background within mechanical construction, M&E, mechanical installation, HVAC or commercial HVAC
  • Strong Mechanical / M&E Project Management experience
  • Commercial Gas / Mechanical bias preferred
  • Mechanical trade qualification – City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent
  • Proven experience managing site teams and subcontractors
  • Strong project planning, cost control and commercial management experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Previous site experience across operations, construction and commissioning
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong understanding of HSE, quality and compliance requirements
