About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of major water infrastructure and shaft construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to manage complex civil engineering schemes that play a vital role in improving and maintaining essential water infrastructure.
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for the safe, timely, and commercially successful delivery of projects, overseeing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the highest standards of quality, health and safety, and environmental performance.
The role will involve managing projects that include deep shafts, pumping stations, water treatment assets, pipelines, reinforced concrete structures, and associated civil engineering works.
Project Manager Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of water infrastructure and shaft construction projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Take full responsibility for project performance, including safety, programme, quality, budget, and client satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
- Manage Site Agents, Sub Agents, Engineers, and site delivery teams.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, designers, and specialist contractors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Oversee commercial performance, including budgets, forecasting, cost control, variations, and compensation events.
- Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation measures where required.
- Chair progress meetings and provide regular reports to senior management and clients.
- Support project planning, procurement, and resource management.
- Ensure successful commissioning, testing, and project handover.
Project Manager Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within the water or civil engineering sector.
- Experience delivering major infrastructure projects involving shafts, water treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines, or reinforced concrete structures.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrable experience managing programmes, budgets, and project risks.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality management.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced project environment.
Project Manager Qualifications
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Managers Card.
