An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join a rapidly growing and highly respected construction and engineering business, working on a major data centre development in Corsham for a key client.

This is a high-profile, technically complex project involving extensive enabling, infrastructure and civil engineering works supporting the development of multiple data halls and associated facilities.

Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will take significant responsibility for the safe, compliant, profitable and timely delivery of the project scope, working alongside an experienced project team and a range of key client, consultant, utility and supply chain stakeholders.

The Project

The project is a major data centre development in Corsham, incorporating extensive enabling and infrastructure works required to support the construction of multiple data halls and associated facilities.

The successful Project Manager will oversee a complex package of works including:

Below-ground infrastructure and site-wide utilities.

Earthworks and cut/fill operations.

Attenuation ponds and drainage networks.

Underground utility corridors and duct installations.

HV and MV power infrastructure.

Data and security ducting systems and chambers.

Utilities interfaces and diversions.

Foundations and reinforced concrete slabs.

Roads, infrastructure and external works.

Potential design and construction of ancillary buildings.

Design development and technical coordination.

Consultant appointments and statutory approvals.

Coordination with utility providers, the client and wider project stakeholders.

The project requires strong project leadership, programme management, commercial awareness, technical coordination and stakeholder management to successfully deliver a complex, high-value infrastructure package.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will report to the Project Director and take ownership of the delivery of your assigned project scope.

You will lead a multidisciplinary project team and work closely with the commercial, design, engineering, procurement, construction and health & safety functions to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Governance

Lead the project team to deliver agreed project objectives safely, efficiently and successfully.

Establish effective project governance, controls and reporting processes.

Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures and client requirements.

Drive accountability, collaboration and high performance across the project team.

Ensure appropriate project controls are implemented and maintained.

Programme & Delivery Management

Take ownership of project delivery against programme objectives and contractual milestones.

Monitor progress and implement recovery measures where required.

Coordinate resources, procurement and subcontractor activities to support programme requirements.

Identify and manage project risks, constraints and dependencies.

Work closely with the Project Director to maintain delivery momentum.

Ensure effective coordination between construction, design, engineering and commercial functions.

Commercial & Financial Management

Manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow and overall commercial performance.

Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Support change control, forecasting and cost management activities.

Work closely with the commercial team to maximise project profitability.

Ensure project performance remains aligned with agreed financial objectives.

Health, Safety & Environmental Management

Lead health, safety and environmental performance across the project.

Promote a strong culture of safe delivery and personal accountability.

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, client standards and company procedures.

Drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

Ensure appropriate RAMS and project controls are implemented and followed.

Quality & Assurance

Ensure project quality plans, inspections and assurance processes are implemented.

Promote right-first-time delivery and defect prevention.

Undertake site compliance inspections and ensure works are delivered in accordance with the relevant control documents.

Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports where required.

Ensure corrective actions are followed through to compliant completion.

Drive successful, defect-free completion and handover of the works.

Client & Stakeholder Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with the client, consultants, utility providers and supply chain partners.

Manage project communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Ensure stakeholder expectations are clearly understood and effectively managed.

Support the development of long-term client relationships and repeat business.

Represent the business professionally throughout the project lifecycle.

People & Team Leadership

Lead, develop and support multidisciplinary project teams.

Set clear expectations and promote a high-performance culture.

Support the development and progression of team members.

Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.

Contribute to succession planning and talent development.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager who has a proven track record of successfully delivering complex construction projects.

You should have strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain control of programme, commercial performance, quality and delivery.

Experience within data centres, infrastructure, civil engineering, utilities, energy, defence or other technically complex construction environments would be highly advantageous.

Experience Required

Proven experience managing construction projects from inception through to completion.

Experience delivering complex infrastructure, civil engineering or building projects.

Strong understanding of NEC and JCT contracts.

Experience managing commercial performance, forecasting and cost control.

Strong understanding of programme, risk and change management.

Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.

Knowledge of design and build delivery processes.

Experience managing client, consultant and supply chain relationships.

Strong understanding of construction processes and project controls.

Experience working within highly regulated or technically complex environments is advantageous.

Technical Experience

Strong knowledge of one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:

Earthworks and cut/fill operations.

Piling and foundations.

Drainage and attenuation systems.

Utilities diversions and installations.

Roads and infrastructure works.

Reinforced concrete and structural foundations.

Hard landscaping and external works.

HV/MV infrastructure.

Data and security ducting.

Below-ground infrastructure.

Qualifications

HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline.

Membership of CIOB, RICS, APM or another relevant professional body is desirable.

Project Management qualification such as APM, PMP or equivalent is desirable.

CSCS Black Card – minimum requirement.
