Project manager - water / civil engineering

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in water and civil engineering projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial planning through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage water and civil engineering projects from inception through to completion.
  • Take overall responsibility for programme, budget, quality and delivery.
  • Lead project teams, subcontractors and site personnel.
  • Manage client relationships and attend regular progress meetings.
  • Develop and monitor project programmes and ensure key milestones are achieved.
  • Manage project costs, variations, valuations and commercial performance.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Identify and manage project risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Review drawings, specifications and technical information.
  • Produce regular project reports and progress updates.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Work closely with commercial, engineering and site teams.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within water and/or civil engineering.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure, utilities, water treatment, pipelines, drainage, sewerage, earthworks or associated civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, programmes and project delivery.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, variations and project costs.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects to tight deadlines.
  • Relevant civil engineering or construction qualification preferred.

Desirable

  • Experience working on water industry or utilities projects.
  • Experience with frameworks and major infrastructure clients.
  • SMSTS.
  • CSCS.
  • First Aid.
  • Relevant engineering/construction qualification.
  • NEC contract experience.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Location

Projects are based across the UK, with the successful candidate expected to travel to project sites as required.
