Project Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a construction project on behalf of a reputable contractor. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS to take ownership of key packages, manage cost control, and work closely with the project and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery.

• Manage the commercial and financial aspects of assigned project packages from procurement through to final account.
• Prepare, submit, and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Oversee subcontract procurement, package management, payments, and commercial reporting.
• Identify and manage project risks, opportunities, and change control processes.
• Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow updates for senior management.
• Work closely with site teams, project managers, clients, and subcontractors to support smooth project delivery.
• Ensure contract compliance and maintain accurate commercial records throughout the project lifecycle.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector with experience working on education projects.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, ideally including JCT and/or NEC forms of contract.
• Experience managing subcontract packages, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Confident communicator with strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently on a freelance basis and integrate quickly into an existing project team.
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline is desirable.
• Competitive freelance day rate.
