THE BUSINESS

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to join an established Chartered Quantity Surveying consultancy with a strong specialism in NEC4 contract and commercial project delivery.

The business supports clients and delivery partners across major power, energy, infrastructure, construction, engineering and utilities projects, with a particular focus on using NEC4 to promote collaborative working and successful project outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who wants to develop beyond traditional cost management and build genuine expertise within NEC4.

THE ROLE

• You will support the administration and commercial management of NEC4 contracts.
• Apply a detailed working knowledge of NEC4 contracts, including Main and Secondary Options, Contract Data and compensation event procedures.
• Lead and contribute to contractual communications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to NEC4 processes.
• Support early warning and risk mitigation strategies.
• Proactively identify and manage commercial and contractual risks.
• Manage compensation events, valuations and commercial reporting.
• Support cost control, forecasting and change management.
• Provide commercial insight to support project efficiency and successful commercial outcomes.
• Work closely with clients and contractors to assess programme submissions and potential project impacts.
• Manage commercial and contractual changes, ensuring these are appropriately evidenced and aligned with the relevant contract mechanisms.
• Support the resolution of contractual issues and challenges.
• Work collaboratively with clients, contractors, subcontractors and wider project teams.
• Promote strong contract governance and effective risk management.
• Contribute positively to the development of high-performing project teams.
• Take ownership of your responsibilities and maintain high professional and commercial standards.

THE PERSON

• You will ideally hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Engineering, although HNC/HND qualifications will also be considered.
• You will have relevant Quantity Surveying, commercial or contract management experience.
• You will have a detailed understanding of NEC4 contracts or similar contractual forms.
• Experience administering NEC contracts would be advantageous.
• You will understand payment mechanisms, compensation events and commercial change management.
• Experience supporting programme management would be beneficial.
• You will have good commercial awareness with an ability to identify and manage contractual and commercial risk.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• You will be comfortable engaging with clients, contractors and subcontractors.
• You will have a collaborative approach to project delivery.
• You will be proactive, organised and commercially aware.
• Working towards professional membership with RICS, CIPS or ICE would be advantageous.
• You will have a genuine interest in developing your NEC4 expertise and progressing professionally.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required due to regular site visits and business travel.
