Lead hands‑on delivery of mechanical and maintenance projects across the network
As our Project Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering a range of mechanical and maintenance activities that support the safe and efficient operation of Cadent’s network. This isn’t just a technical role — it’s about leading work packages, supporting teams and driving high standards of safety, quality and performance.
This is a permanent role, where you’ll lead and support the delivery of both cyclical and ad‑hoc maintenance activities across Mechanical & Calibration Services. From pre‑heater remediation and fabrication through to painting and specialist maintenance tasks, you’ll take ownership of delivery while acting as a subject matter expert within your area.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting project delivery, procurement activity and continuous improvement initiatives, while coaching and developing others across the team.

- Performance & Reporting – Track KPIs, maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements.
- Mechanical Experience – Experience working within mechanical, maintenance or operational environments.
- Team Leadership – Ability to lead, support and develop teams in a hands‑on delivery environment.
- Technical Knowledge – Understanding of engineering standards, procedures and safe systems of work.
- Safety‑Critical Awareness – Strong knowledge of safety practices, including Safe Control of Operations (SCO).
- Problem‑Solving Skills – Ability to manage issues, make decisions and deliver solutions in real time.
- Communication Skills – Strong ability to engage with stakeholders and work collaboratively across teams.
- Organisation & Planning – Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks and deliver against deadlines.
- Mechanical Engineering NVQ (or equivalent qualification)
- SCO authorisations (or working towards)
- IOSH or equivalent safety qualification (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
