CNC Programmer / Machinist

Kidderminster | Permanent | Competitive Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Precision engineering. Real responsibility. Products that make a difference.

We're looking for an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist to join a leading advanced engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Kidderminster.

This isn't high-volume production. You'll be machining complex, precision-engineered components to extremely tight tolerances in a highly regulated manufacturing environment where quality, safety and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.

If you enjoy solving machining challenges, improving manufacturing processes and taking pride in producing exceptional work, this could be the opportunity you're looking for.

The Role

As part of an experienced manufacturing team, you'll programme, set and operate CNC machines to produce high-quality precision components. You'll play an important role in improving manufacturing performance while ensuring products are delivered safely, accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme, set and operate CNC milling and turning machines.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to produce components to close tolerances.
  • Determine machining methods, tooling and efficient production sequences.
  • Design and manufacture jigs, fixtures and work-holding solutions.
  • Carry out first-off inspections and in-process dimensional checks using precision measuring equipment.
  • Set tooling, offsets, feeds and speeds to optimise production efficiency.
  • Support batch production while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to investigate manufacturing issues and implement improvements.
  • Contribute to Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, waste reduction and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support manufacturing improvements, equipment upgrades and factory layout changes where required.

About You

You'll be a skilled CNC Machinist with experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery within a precision engineering environment.

Ideally you'll have:

  • A recognised machining apprenticeship or equivalent manufacturing qualification.
  • Experience programming and setting CNC lathes and machining centres.
  • Strong knowledge of G-Code, tooling, offsets and machining best practice.
  • Experience working from engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Experience with HAAS, Hurco, XYZ Proturn or ProtoTRAK controls would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to join a business that manufactures highly engineered, low-volume products where your craftsmanship and technical expertise genuinely make an impact.

In return you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Annual bonus.
  • Generous pension scheme.
  • Excellent training and development opportunities.
  • Long-term career progression.
  • Modern manufacturing facilities.
  • A collaborative culture focused on engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

If you're an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist looking for a technically challenging role where quality comes before quantity, we'd love to hear from you.
