Proposals Engineer
Net Zero Evolution
Job Title: Proposal Engineer – Power Quality (Medium Voltage)
Salary: £50,000–£65,000 (flexible for the right candidate)
Location: UK – Hybrid (Ideally within reach of Telford)
Why this role
If you enjoy solving complex electrical engineering challenges and want to influence projects worth millions rather than simply supporting them, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
You'll join a growing Power Quality division within a global engineering organisation that is investing heavily in technology, innovation and grid infrastructure. Working at the front end of major projects, you'll combine your technical expertise with commercial awareness to develop competitive solutions that help customers strengthen electrical networks across the UK and Northern Europe.
This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional design or applications engineering into a role where your technical judgement directly shapes business success.
About the company
Our client is an internationally recognised engineering and technology business delivering advanced power conversion and electrical infrastructure solutions across energy, utilities and heavy industry. With significant investment in research and development, the organisation is helping customers modernise electrical networks through innovative medium and high voltage technologies.
As demand for grid stability and power quality continues to grow, this team is expanding to support an increasing pipeline of technically challenging projects.
What you'll do
Working closely with sales, engineering and global technical specialists, you'll take ownership of customer enquiries from initial request through to completed technical proposals.
You'll analyse customer specifications, develop the optimum technical solution, size key electrical equipment, obtain supplier quotations and produce detailed commercial offers for projects ranging from several million pounds to major infrastructure programmes.
The role offers exposure to technologies including Medium Voltage power electronics, STATCOM applications, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers and associated grid equipment. You'll also collaborate with engineering teams across Europe, particularly during your initial training period.
About you
You'll have a solid electrical engineering background with experience in medium or high voltage power systems, power electronics or industrial drive technologies.
Perhaps you're currently working as a Proposal Engineer, Applications Engineer, Tendering Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer and are looking to develop your commercial skills without losing the technical depth you enjoy.
Experience with medium voltage drives, power conversion equipment, electrical distribution systems or similar technologies will be highly valued. Direct STATCOM experience isn't essential, but a strong understanding of power electronics and electrical system design is.
You'll be comfortable interpreting single line diagrams, specifying electrical equipment and communicating technical solutions with confidence. An Electrical Engineering degree is preferred, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
Rewards & growth
Alongside a competitive salary and hybrid working, you'll receive structured training from an international centre of excellence and work alongside highly experienced specialists within the power quality sector.
The business is growing rapidly, creating genuine opportunities to progress into senior technical, commercial or leadership roles as the team expands. You'll also gain exposure to international projects while building expertise in one of the fastest-growing areas of modern electrical infrastructure.
How to apply
If you're looking for a role where your engineering expertise can influence major infrastructure projects while opening long-term career opportunities within an innovative global business, we'd love to hear from you.
