Psychologist

Job Purpose

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychologist to join a multi‑disciplinary clinical team. You will play a vital role in supporting the emotional wellbeing, development, and mental health of children and young people with complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and developmental trauma.

Your work will embed trauma‑informed practice across care and education settings, while providing consultation, reflective practice, and training to staff teams to strengthen relational care and enhance placement stability.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Professional Practice

• Conduct psychological assessments using psychometrics, observation, and consultation.

• Formulate and deliver evidence‑based interventions tailored to individual and systemic needs.

• Provide therapeutic input for children, families, and staff teams.

• Contribute to trauma‑informed care planning and support strategies.

• Deliver reflective practice, supervision, and consultation for staff.

• Maintain high standards of documentation, formulation, and outcome monitoring.

• Work flexibly across multiple sites with a varied caseload.

• Promote psychological thinking across teams to build shared understanding.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with clinicians, education and care colleagues, families, and external professionals.

• Attend multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, and safeguarding discussions.

• Deliver staff training on psychological literacy, regulation strategies, and trauma‑informed practice.

• Build trusted relationships that promote safety, curiosity, and learning.

Leadership & Development

• Support the creation of psychologically informed environments.

• Provide supervision to assistant psychologists or trainees.

• Contribute to the development of therapeutic models and psychology strategy.

• Participate in clinical development projects as directed by senior leadership.

Service & Quality Improvement

• Support service evaluation, research, and audit projects.

• Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

• Stay current with developments in child psychology, trauma‑informed care, and neurodiversity.

• Adhere to HCPC, BPS, and professional standards of practice.
