Public Affairs Lead
Murray McIntosh Associates Ltd
Transport Focus is the independent watchdog for transport users across Britain. As the organisation prepares to take on significant new responsibilities through rail reform, we're looking for a Public Affairs Lead to help shape their influence, profile and engagement across the UK.
This is a newly created role with genuine scope and autonomy. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you'll take ownership of the public affairs function, developing strategy, building relationships with key political and stakeholder audiences, and ensuring the voice of transport users is heard where decisions are made.
The Role
You'll lead engagement across Westminster, Whitehall, devolved governments and regional authorities, helping Transport Focus expand its influence as its remit grows. Working closely with senior leaders, you'll identify opportunities, manage risks and develop relationships that help drive meaningful change for passengers and road users.
About You
You could come from public affairs, policy, government relations or a related field, but you'll have a strong understanding of the UK political landscape and a track record of building influential stakeholder relationships.
Most importantly, you'll be a strategic thinker who is equally comfortable delivering. You'll be motivated by public impact, confident working autonomously, savvy, proactive and excited by the opportunity to build and shape a growing function. We're particularly interested in candidates with experience spanning national, regional and devolved politics, alongside a collaborative and pragmatic approach to influencing.
Why Join?
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a public affairs agenda at a pivotal moment for a respected, purpose-driven organisation. Alongside an excellent benefits package, you'll have the chance to make a tangible impact on the future of transport policy and passenger advocacy across the UK.
