Desford LE9 – hybrid currently onsite 3 days Mon, Weds & Fri. Potential to be 5 days on site in the future.
12 Month Contract – likely to extend for the right person. This opportunity could set you up to move into a permanent role!
37.5 hours a week (office hours – you can discuss your preferred start/finish times at interview)
£16.11 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rate £22.06
We’re looking for a Purchasing Assistant to use their administration and logistics experience to assist Buyers within a Logistics department of a globally renowned Fortune 100 building construction machines manufacturer in Desford. This is initially a 12 month contract, which is likely to extend for the right person and could set you up to move into a permanent role!
Ideally we would like to find a confident team player with experience in purchasing within a logistics environment (i.e. materials coming in and then going out to other sites), who is eager to learn and thrives in a fast-paced environment - personality really will go a long way in this instance! What will the Purchasing Assistant do?
• Work as part of the Logistics site which feeds all the manufacturing sites globally, supporting 3 Buyers with their purchasing admin requirements - the variety of learning is endless!
• Support the Data Accuracy & Records Tracking team with Advance Shipment Notice onboarding and supplier submission
• Drive automation and process updates, including SWS reviews and CI opportunities
• Manage supplier relationships with quarterly face-to-face visits (UK + Europe) and monthly Teams calls for strategic suppliers, and improve invoice defect metrics by 10%
• New Business growth through customer support/new part setup
• Manage engineering changes and new part setup for customer focus
• Travel: circa 10% of time, for supplier or customer visits in the UK or Europe
What skills and experience will the Purchasing Assistant need?
• 2 years minimum procurement experience, working with suppliers to get materials into a facility/then going out to other manufacturing sites.
• Ability to work from own initiative and confidently handle day to day workload
• Must be able to complete data analysis and have supplier sourcing experience
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills - be able to clearly and confidently communicate with all parties and work well within a global team
• Microsoft Office: in particular Teams, Outlook, Excel (Vlookup/Formulas), Powerpoint
• Desirable experience: knowledge of Power BI / Glovia / AI tools to enhance productivity
