We are seeking a highly experienced, savvy Purchasing Manager to lead our client’s procurement function. As they scale and handle large-quantity orders from major international clients, our client requires a strategic professional who can manage high-value expenditure while maintaining rigorous stock control across a wide and complex product range.

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of supply chain management, from sourcing raw materials and electrical components to managing relationships with specialised technical vendors.

Role Expectations

As a senior member of the operations team, you will be expected to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to the company's growth. Your role will evolve as the business expands, requiring expertise in both high-level strategy and hands-on inventory management.

The Job

  • Strategic Procurement: Lead the procurement strategy to support business scaling, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and "spending savvy"

decision-making for high-volume orders.

  • High-Value Expenditure Management: Oversee large-scale purchase orders and financial commitments, ensuring budget alignment and favourable commercial terms with key suppliers.
  • Inventory & Stock Control: Manage a large range of products and components, ensuring optimal stock levels for live manufacturing orders using the Aligni ERP system.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of suppliers, including metal fabricators and technical component providers.
  • Operational Collaboration: Work closely with the Production Manager and Operations Manager to ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing schedules and project deadlines.Process Optimisation: Continuously improve procurement processes to increase efficiency and support the continued growth of the business.

About you

  • Experience as a purchasing manager ideally within an electrical environment
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Demonstrable success in cost-saving initiatives through strategic procurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of how to generate and manage supply contracts.
  • Management experience with the ability to lead and support
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and MRP systems
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
  • Ability to work independently
