Jackson Hogg Procurement division are partnering with a growing organisation in Hartlepool on the appointment of a Purchasing Officer to join their team. This is a full-time and permanent role where you would be the stand-alone Buyer for the business, but with training and support from the Sales & Purchasing Manager. 

This is a business that has experienced good growth over the last 10 years, and they have over doubled in size during this time. 

This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, chemicals, equipment, and services to support operations.

You will play a key role in ensuring cost efficiency, maintaining supplier performance, and supporting uninterrupted production while adhering to quality, safety, and environmental standards.

This is an on-site role, working 40 hours per week with hours of Monday to Friday 08.00-16.30 but flexibility could be offered if other hours are preferred. 

The Role:

  • Source and procure raw materials, consumables, and services in a cost-effective manner
  • Identify, evaluate, and audit suppliers to ensure compliance and quality standards
  • Negotiate contracts to achieve optimal pricing, lead times, and terms
  • Liaise with Commercial and Production teams to align purchasing with operational needs
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock
  • Raise and manage purchase orders across all departments
  • Track supplier performance and resolve any supply issues
  • Maintain purchasing procedures and ensure compliance across the business
  • Coordinate label artwork and ordering processes
  • Provide cost updates and communicate pricing changes to Sales

The Person/Requirements:

  • CIPS qualified or working towards a CIPS level is essential 
  • Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role
  • Understanding of supplier management and contract negotiation
  • Experience within manufacturing, chemical, or industrial environments would be desirable
  • Familiarity with ERP systems 
  • Knowledge of inventory control and supply chain processes
  • Strong negotiation and commercial awareness
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach
  • Full driving licence
