This is a fantastic opportunity to work on major enhancement projects involving new railway infrastructure, capacity upgrades, electrification and line speed improvements across the North of England.
What We're Looking For
To be considered for this role, you'll ideally have previous experience working on Network Rail infrastructure projects, or strong track design experience within the early development and design phases of rail projects.
You'll be confident reviewing track designs, working collaboratively with design consultants, and supporting projects from concept through to a deliverable design. Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to build positive working relationships are just as important as technical expertise.

You'll be working across a portfolio of major rail enhancement programmes, including strategic routes across Yorkshire and the North of England. Two of these programmes are already in delivery, with others progressing through the development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
·Reviewing and assuring track designs produced by external design consultants.
·Working closely with suppliers on a day-to-day basis to develop practical engineering solutions.
·Providing technical guidance throughout the early design and development phases.
·Supporting the progression of designs towards approval and delivery.
·Building strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
·Ensuring engineering solutions meet project requirements and industry standards.
About You
You'll have:
·Experience as a Senior Project Engineer or similar within rail track engineering.
·Strong knowledge of track design principles and engineering assurance.
·Experience working within early-stage rail infrastructure development.
·The ability to review, challenge and improve engineering designs.
Experience on major rail enhancement programmes would be highly advantageous.
Working Arrangements
·Hybrid working with a minimum of 60% of your working week based in the Manchester office or supplier offices.
·Occasional travel to project and supplier offices in Leeds, York and Birmingham.·Travel expenses reimbursed in line with project policy.
Why Apply?
·Be part of a nationally significant infrastructure programme that will transform rail connectivity across the North.
·Work on technically challenging, high-profile engineering projects.
·Collaborate with experienced engineering teams and industry-leading design partners.
·Join a supportive, collaborative environment where attitude and teamwork are valued alongside technical capability.
·Potential opportunity to transition into a permanent role.
If you're an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Track) looking to play a key role in delivering the next generation of rail infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.
